This is a really useful book for anyone who wants to, or thinks they want to, live abroad in the third world. It is specific to Nicaragua but many of the issues are similar in many countries. The author does a great job of describing what to expect, the good and the bad then follows it up with practical advice on how to create a workable life in these sort of places.

Not only gives you the info needed to know where to focus your travels, but also has good ideas about how to get questions answered and get the proper feel for a candidate location.

WE ARE PLANNING TO RETIRE IN NICARAGUA AND I BOUGHT THIS BOOK TO GET FAMILIAR WITH THE SURROUNDINGS AND LEARN WHAT TO EXPECT. THE INFORMATION IS A COUPLE YEARS OLD BUT STILL PRETTY CURRENT. IT WAS QUITE HELPFUL IN DECIDING WHERE WE WOULD LIKE TO LIVE.

Dobpota
I give the book credit for telling a lot of nasty stuff about Nicaragua. But somehow I was not thrilled by the book -- can't think why not. I donated it to a library.

I am moving to Nicaragua and this book helps me a lot, so now I know what to expect. Should be read by anyone planning to move there.

I found this book quite helpful, especially with all of the great contacts and websites listed. Hope to live in Nicaragua one day and this book is a great first step!
