Beck spent his early culinary history cooking in restaurants such as Tantris in Munich, Tristán in Mallorca and Resident Heinz Winkler in Aschau, Germany. Beck came to the Rome restaurant La Pergola in 1994, and became executive chef at the restaurant.

The food is really amazing. Save room for dessert, as it is Heinz Beck's specialty. I reserved this restaurant for our anniversary, we were informed in advance that Heinz Beck would be at the restaurant and providing a special tasting menu. Date of visit: September 2019. We had to pay in advance for this, which seemed reasonable for the limited number of tables.
