The drama of Anne Frank is rightly always before us but the equally vital stories of those who suffered but survived need to be listened to with just as much attention―Margaret Forster. A magnificent testimony to the people of the ghetto. Janina Bauman died in 2009. A deeply moving but surprisingly unselfpitying book, a real pleasure to read―TES.
Winter in the Morning is a captivating book. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. It shows how this wealthy Jewish girl becomes stricken with poverty, alienated from her friends, and was sent to another school. It also showed how they lived in the ghetto with many other Jews, fighting disease, lice, and finding food that was scarce. This book was very inspiring, as well as well written
