Unfortunately, this book is not very good. Now, when I started reading it, yes, it seemed a little dense, a little wordy, and the use of card catalogues (?!?!!) as a source for analysis was a little iffy. But I am a rookie historian. M This book attempts to revise standard approaches to the decline of Egypt and the Ottoman and greater Ottoman economy.
