The last book I read was about the welsh follies and it was full of astonishing facts and stories about legends who lived in them. Legends and Myths of Wales is a delightful book that recounts some of the pre-history tales of the Welch together with some more modern legends. This one is pretty much along the same lines. Wales does have a history full of mythologies and I guess that’s what makes it an interesting place to visit. This book helps you discover Wales’ most secluded places along with some enchanting stories. The stories are recounted in modern English, and have been done so by an author with a keen command of the word.
An historical novel of the armaments industry during the Napoleonic Wars. A collection of sixteen Welsh legends and myths from North Wales. Wales is a land filled with mythology. Every breathtaking valley, towering mountain, shimmering lake and magical castle has a mythical tale to entertain and enchant you. The Welsh, like other Celtic races, love to tell stories.
This enjoyable book - the fifth in the series - takes us out walking in the north-east of Wales to find places featured in sixteen stories from Welsh history and myth. Graham Watkins first tells us a story, then he guides us on a walk around the places mentioned in the story. The walks differ in length and difficulty, and the instructions are clear and helpful. The book is illustrated with maps and photographs. This time Graham tells of a well, a pool and a lighthouse; devil dogs, angels and fairies; a princess, a bishop, and a mad king
