Pale yellow towers flanked a mammoth crimson dome, and the rest of the structure fell away beneath, hundreds of windows visible in the stone. So cold the river : that’s the strange phrase uttered by a dying man in Michael Koryta’s calculatingly spooky new novel. The man is a 95-year-old Chicago millionaire called Campbell Bradford. And he is hardly the only person in this book to be rattled by unnaturally chilly fluids.
