The species is placed in the valid genus Javanisomysison the basis of the characteristics of the fourth male pleopod; however, the definition of the genus was insufficient. In the present paper, re-examination of the genus Javanisomysisis carried out on the basis of paratypes loaned from the depository in Romania.

Fifty nine species of Mysidacea (Crustacea, Peracarida) are now known. Most of the species live hyperbenthically, but some also occur bathy- or mesopelagically. Of these, 37 were reported for the Antarctic region and 31 for the Magellan region; six species occur further north in the Southern Ocean, but south of 40°S. 51% of the Antarctic Mysidacea are endemic, and the figure for the Magellan region is 48%. Mysidetes has the most species in the Southern Ocean, and Eucopia australis is the species with the widest bathymetric distribution (600–6000 m depth). by by Matthias Wilhelm Senger. An Annotated Key to the Mysidacea of the North Central Gulf of Mexico An Annotated Key to the Mysidacea of the North Central Gulf of Mexico. Fifteen species belonging to eight genera were collected from the shallow waters (0–150 m) of the Andaman Sea. Of these one species Doxomysis nicobaris is described as new and all the other species are identified with existing species. The differences shown by the present specimens from the published descriptions are fully discussed with figures. A note on the distribution of each species is also given.
