This book details the story of Caril Ann Fugate- a teen ager that accompanied Charles Starweather on a killing spree through Nebraska.

Ninette Beaver co-wrote the 1974 book "Caril" about Caril Ann Fugate, who was 14 when she accompanied Charles Starkweather on his late 1950s murder spree through Nebraska and Wyoming. Ninette Beaver chose a career in journalism because she was tough and single-minded, said son Edward Beaver. Those qualities came in handy: As a special correspondent for KMTV in Omaha, she scored an interview with Caril Ann Fugate, who was 14 when she accompanied Charles Starkweather on his late 1950s murder spree through Nebraska and Wyoming.

Caril Ann Fugate (born July 31, 1943) was the teenaged girlfriend of spree killer Charles Starkweather. Her unauthorized biography "Caril" was written by Ninette Beaver. She is the youngest female in United States history to be tried for first-degree murder. She has been compared to Kara Borden, who was the 14-year-old girlfriend of David G. Ludwig, a Pennsylvania teen accused of murdering Borden's parents in 2005. Caril", Ninette Beaver.

This was a really interesting book. If you followed the Charles Starkweather and Caril Fugate story, this book tells the story of Caril and how the case affected her. I gave it five stars because I thought it was very interesting. I am a fan of true crime books and this one ranks right up there.

Butius
very fascinating story. Good read.

I am very interested in true crime and this book helped me understanding thie case more than any other book I have read on it.

Tantil
Interesting book about Charles Starkweather's girlfriend who spent many years in prison for a spree killing. She claimed innocent, was paroled and lived productive life afterward.

Yellow Judge
Aside from a few interesting sidelights on journalists' working conditions fifty years ago, in the Dark Ages of news gathering, this book is a complete waste of time. Poorly written, quoting long, unimportant conversations no one could possibly recall in such detail, amateurish in the extreme, this book did not deserve a publisher. What a waste of money and time. It provides some of the flavor of the public consternation felt at the time, but that doesn't compensate for the horrible boredom of the rest of the book. And even those aspects were ruined by incompetent writing skills.

A thorough, no-frills account of the Fugate/Starkweather case. Their murder spree resulted in the deaths of 10 people in Nebraska and Wyoming in the 1950s and was notorious at the time, but is largely forgotten today. The author, one of the journalists who originally covered the story, records the trials, Starkweather's execution and Fugate's prison sentence and appeals in meticulous, minute-by-minute detail.

I only wish there had been some speculation or insight into what caused Starkweather to go off, and whether his girlfriend was a willing accomplice or a terrified hostage as she later claimed. I wish Ann Rule would write on this.

This book is very informative and well written. It describes all of the killings, the trials, and the outcome of the trials of both Caril Ann Fugate and Charles Raymond Starkweather. It begins by giving you a reporters view of the crimes and the manhunt for the murderous couple. It also has one chapter just about the confessions of Charles Starkweather. A very good read. I would highly reccommend this book to anyone who is interested in this story about a couple on a rampage.
