The Food Of France, M. .Murdoch Books' 'Food of the World' series are the best overall cookbooks I've ever come across. The clarity of the instructions to the layout of the pages make it the most user-friendly cookbook I've encountered. I write all my recipes using the same method and style as the Food of the World cookbooks.

I love this book! Since I arrived from France, I offered it many times to American friends over the years.

I had the pleasure of looking at this book at my sister's home. I really enjoyed looking at the beautiful photographs of each and every recipe contained in the book. I am one of those persons that is inspired by photgraphs of recipes. I am sure there are many wonderfull recipes out there that I am missing out on becuase they are not accompanied by pictures that inspire me. The book contains recipes for the classics such as french onion soup (what appears to be an easy to understand and uncomplicated recipe), pate, tarts, duck etc. Really wonderful and inspiring.

This is the fifth copy of this book I have sent to family members. In the few years I have had it, every recipe I have tried has been an outstanding success. I highly recommend it.

First of all, I am one of the worst cooks I know, and my family complains about my cooking. However, when I made a few recipes out of this book, even my harshest critics said my dishes belong in a first class restaurant!!! I couldn't believe it! The recipes are easy to follow, especially for someone like myself who experiences mishaps in the kitchen. The chicken chasseur, steak au poivre, and boeuf bourguignon were AMAZING. The desserts I've made- creme brulee, creme caramel, and petits pots de creme- were equally fantastic. I lived in France and missed the food, and the recipes from this book seem authentic. The flavors of the dishes remind me of France. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who loves French cuisine.

This is my cherished cookbook. The tart recipes alone are worth the buy! Every recipe if followed properly, comes out picture perfect and tastes superb. The photography for each recipe is super high quality. Because I was so pleased with this book, I searched for one called Food of Italy and found another winner with reviews as great as this book -- yep, you guessed it -- I bought it! I'll review that one for you after I try a few recipes...

My husband bought this cookbook for me a few Christmases ago. I used to just sit and salivate over the pictures...then I realized the recipes were totally doable! Most of the ingredients I already had on hand. Every recipe is $$$ restaurant quality, and the dessert section is phenomenal. Tart pastry, choux pastry, souffle: all very French and very approachable. Makes cooking a joy.
