Apatites of representative magnetite-series and ilmenite-series granitoids were studied in the Japanese Islands
Apatites of representative magnetite-series and ilmenite-series granitoids were studied in the Japanese Islands. Concentrations of the volatile components F, Cl and SO3 are differently distributed in apatites of these granitoid series. Apatites are always fluoroapatite. They have weakly higher F content in the ilmenite series than in the magnetite series. In contrast, Cl and SO3, are significantly concentrated in apatites of the magnetite series compared to the ilmenite series. The Tokuwa batholith, central Japan - An example of occurrence of ilmenite-series and magnetite-series granitoids in a batholith.
Tsugaruite, Pb4As~S7, is a new Pb-As sulphosalt from the Yunosawa mine, Aomori Prefecture, northern Japan. X-ray studies indicated it to be orthorhombic Pnn2 or Pnnm, a 1. 79(1), b 3. 95(1), . More). Sulfur isotopic ratios of the magnetite-series and ilmenite-series granitoids of the Sierra Nevada batholith-A reconnaissance study
Sulfur isotopic ratios of the magnetite-series and ilmenite-series granitoids of the Sierra Nevada batholith-A reconnaissance study. Journal Article Ishihara, Shunoso ; Sasaki, Akira - Geology; (USA). Whole-rock sulfur isotopic ratios were determined for four magnetite-series and two ilmenite-series granitoids from the central Sierra Nevada batholith. The magnetite-series rocks yielded {delta}{sup 34}S{sub (CDT)} of . to ., and the ilmenite-series rocks revealed lower values of {minus}3. These correlations are the same as those observed in the Japanese Islands arc.
In the book Rhetorica ad Herennium litotes is addressed as a member of The Figures of Thought known as deminutio, or understatement
In the book Rhetorica ad Herennium litotes is addressed as a member of The Figures of Thought known as deminutio, or understatement. It is listed in conjunction with antenantiosis and meiosis, two other forms of rhetorical deminutio. For example, a very accomplished artist might say "I'm not a bad painter," and by refraining from bragging but still acknowledging his skill, the artist is seen as talented, modest, and credible. Litotes: As a means of saying: "Not ba. "Good. In Latin, an example of litotes can be found in Ovid's Metamorphoses: "non semel" (bk. 1 ln. 692, "not one occasion"), meaning "on more than one occasion".
Batholith, large body of igneous rock formed beneath the Earth’s surface by the intrusion and solidification of magma. A batholith has an irregular shape with side walls that incline steeply against the host rock. It is commonly composed of coarse-grained rocks (. granite or granodiorite) with a surface exposure of 100 square km (40 square miles) or larger. A batholith has an irregular. Most batholiths intrude across mountain folds and are elongated along the dominant axis of the range; faulting and contact metamorphism of the enveloping rock near the batholith is also observed.
