Roger Andrew Caras (May 24, 1928 – February 18, 2001) was an American wildlife photographer, writer, wildlife preservationist and television personality. Known as the host of the annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, Caras was the author of more than 70 books, a veteran of network television programs including Nightline, ABC World News Tonight and 20/20 before devoting himself to work as president of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

Roger Caras is president of the ASPCA. He has written more than fifty books and hundreds of magazine articles, and he holds professorships at several universities. He lives in Pennsylvania with a large family that includes nine dogs and quite a few other animals.

Roger A. Caras was born on May 24, 1928 in Methuen, Massachusetts. His first book, Antarctica: Land of Frozen Time, was published in 1962. At the age of ten, he went to work for 10 cents an hour cleaning the stables of abused horses seized by the Massachusetts ASPCA. His other works included A Perfect Harmony: The Intertwining Lives of Animals and Humans Throughout History, The Bond, and Going for the Blue: Inside the World of Show Dogs and Dog Shows. He also served as president of the ASPCA and was an advisor to the Walt Disney Company, assisting in developing Disney's Animal Kingdom.
