Contains volumes 1, 2 and 3 of Fullmetal Alchemist. Alchemy: the mystical power to alter the natural world, somewhere between magic art, and science. Alchemy: the mystical power to alter the natural world, somewhere between magic art, and science and the other became nothing but a soul locked into a body of living iron. But their powers aren't unique. The world crawls with evil alchemists.

Alchemy: the mystical power to alter the natural world; something between magic, art and science. When two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, dabbled in this power to grant their dearest wish, one of them lost an arm and a leg...and the other became nothing but a soul locked into a body of living steel. Now Edward is an agent of the government, a slave of the military-alchemical complex, using his unique powers to obey orders...even to kill. Except his powers aren't unique. The world has been ravaged by the abuse of alchemy. And in pursuit of the ultimate alchemical treasure, the Philosopher's Stone, their enemies are even more ruthless than they are...
I titled my review this because the box set is completely awesome, and it's at least $60 cheaper than the other sites I browsed (at the time of release). It's certainly cheaper than buying all 27 volumes individually!

What you get, and comments about each:
(If I seem to nitpick, then sorry, but I like to be extremely specific and thorough, letting you know precisely what I received.)
I. All 27 Volumes of the Fullmetal Alchemist Manga in Paperback
--1. These aren't new editions or anything, they're the same versions you can already purchase individually from VizMedia, but all in one set for one heck of a price! The set also includes Volume 27, which has yet to be relased by itself. (UPDATE 1/8/12: IN THE COMMENTS, SOMEONE HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE TRANSLATIONS AND IMAGES ARE A LITTLE DIFFERENT IN SOME PLACES COMPARED TO THE INDIVIDUAL COPIES YOU CAN PURCHASE FROM THE SAME PUBLISHER. I HAD NO IDEA, AND I APOLOGIZE IF THIS MISLED ANYONE!)
--2. Three or four of my books had EXTREMELY tiny, extra pieces of the cover hanging off of the corners on the spines of the books. It's kind of annoying just knowing they're there, but I'm guessing it's normal for paperbacks. But believe me, it's probably not even worth mentioning.
--3. The first 3 books have holographic covers, and the rest do not.
--4. They're right-to-left style, to preserve the orientation of Arakawa's original artwork. I'm an American and have been reading left-to-right my entire life, but I, personally, haven't had an issue with this. I THOUGHT I would, but I simply haven't.

II. A 2-Sided Poster
--1. Both sides can be viewed on this product's homepage in the photo section.
--2. It's folded in fourths, so there's creases. I have mine hung up though and it looks good to me. I barely-to-don't recognize the creases.
--3. Approximately 10"w x 15"h.

III. The Light Novel "The Ties that Bind"
--1. I'm honestly not sure what this is. I did a little research and I guess it's a novelization of some of the manga chapters?... I really don't know. It IS a novel though, meaning pages full of paragraphs of words. There's only like 3 pages with actual pictures.

IV. The Box Itself
--1. Approximately the size of the poster, and 5 inches deep.
--2. Has 2 shelves (one above the other) that house the books quite snugly. It's kinda hard to get them out sometimes.
--3. Has a hinged "door" that protects the books from dust when closed, stays shut with small velcro circles on the right side, and has a handle on top making it much easier to carry around.
--4. You can see the outside design of the box on this product's home page. The inside of the box is basically the same design as the back of the box.
--5. My box arrived with a few small creases and dents in it, but I suppose this is practically unavoidable when shipping across country.
--6. I'd have preferred a horizontally-orientated version of the box and its contents, but it's a very nice box nonetheless, I must say.

Overall, this product is definitely well worth its price and worthy of being passed down the Armstrong line for generations!!!

If you're reading this your either part of 2 groups.
-Group A: duh of course I'm going to buy this I love FMA. I'm just browsing the reviews.
-Group B: I love FMA but this is expensive and i have trouble spending this much money all at once. Maybe I'll buy the volumes one at a time or something..

So let me help you out.. Buy this. You won't regret it. You'll fly through every page of every book. Then let a friend borrow it. Then reread it all again and enjoy every page and every back of the book gag comic. Worth every dollar. Team mustang ftw..

PS. There might be a group C and D, but you should also buy this

YEEEES! SUCH A HUGE FULL METAL ALCHEMIST BROTHERHOOD FAN! When I saw this for sale didn't even realise I purchased it. I just had to have it ????
In any case, described as advertised. Paperback box set with 27 volumes, light novel, and a small poster. And there's velcro to help close the box.

First off, let me say I generally am not a fan of anime or manga and had purchased this book as a Christmas gift for my younger brother. After flipping through the second and getting caught up, I borrowed the first from said brother. The Fullmetal Alchemist anime (television) adaptations (there are two) are good, however they do not compare to the plot and depth of story in the manga. If you are manga fan (or even if you're not, like me) and are looking for a plot revolving around moral right and wrong, love of family, and the lengths we will go to in order to save them, then this is for you. I highly recommend this purchase, and sincerely hope you take the time to read this series some time. If nothing else, binge watch the anime(s) when looking for something different on Netflix :)

Note: The "Brotherhood" adaptation is truer to the manga, I prefer the original adaptation.

The collection is amazing!!! all the books in a very good condition.
The box is really cool, and the poster addition is really nice.

But: (see photos)
I know that it is the fault of the mail, but the box is quite damaged in transit.
Shipping could be more careful, maybe use bubble wrap and not just a simple bag...

Thank you, totally worth buying for those who love the series. :D

A truly great manga that is both deep and fun at times. It can be serious and dark compared to many well known manga like One Piece or Dragon Ball but isn't as dark as Death Note. It also has plenty of silliness and I think it makes great use of the contrast between silly and serious to inspire all sorts of emotions in the reader. If you have watched the animes this is the same exact story that Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood used. Its not the one the original Full Metal Alchemist anime uses because that anime was made before the manga was finished. A great way to get the whole manga without having to track down each volume.

This edition of FMA blows the other two out of the water. The hardcover is sturdy, and the pages are textbook quality. Better paper than even the Jojoniums.

Only criticism I have is I think the binding could be better.

Overall, though, this is the best way to own the FMA manga now.

As a big FMA fan, I loved this!
It arrived earlier then expected, in mint condition and the box looks so cool ❤o❤
I had collected the first three volumes before deciding to buy this. I know that the price of the box may throw some people off at first but I personally suggest buying the box of this. Not only is it much cheaper then going off and buying each book individually (or in a three pack) but you can store it in the box which has these shelfs in them, and a Velcro to close it up. And the images on and in it look fantastic =w=
The only problem I'd see with the box is that it is a bit big, but thats because it stores all FMA volumes , so its not unnecessarily big. And it does keep the books in great condition :)
